Mason Akers was born in Denver Colorado.  While a freshman in high school he received a scholarship to work at the Art Student’s League of Denver, the youngest person at that time to receive such an honor. This was beginning of his extensive training in painting from life.    He received his Bachelor degree from the University of Kansas, and his Master of Fine Art from Cornell University. Hired for his highly refined technical acuity, he has worked as an artist/ painter/ craftsman for many internationally prominent artists including, Tom Otterness, Takashi Murakami, and Bjarna Melgaard. His own Paintings have been shown Nationally in solo and group exhibitions at such prestigious venues as Artist Space of New York and Sikkema, Jenkins and Co. New York. As a portrait painter, he offers world-class skill, and intellectual artistic rigor, two elements that are commonly seen as disparate.  With his singular background and skills Mr. Akers is an artist whose works are of uncommon quality.  He is currently based in both Hilo, Hawaii, as well Denver Colorado and travels internationally to work with clients of commissioned portraiture.
